Closed parks: Closed Park for aerial shooting pest control operation
The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting aerial shooting for pest animal management purposes from Monday 3 June to Thursday 6 June 2024 in Werakata National Park (NP).
The purpose of the program is to primarily target deer as part of a state-wide conservation program and address our biosecurity obligations. It aims to reduce the significant impact deer have on threatened species and to reduce the economic impact of deer on neighbouring vineyards.
The shooting area will be closed to all visitors when aerial shooting is underway. Closure signs will be placed at all formal visitor access points to the shooting area.
Do not enter the shooting area. Penalties apply to unauthorised entry during closures.
