As a safety precaution the Whymoul precinct campgrounds in the Murray Valley National Park are closed due to recent wet weather and flooding.

Remember, it’s never safe to drive, ride or walk through flood waters, so you’ll need to reschedule your visit and avoid travel through areas in this park. Check Live Traffic NSW for up-to-date information about road closures. For assistance during severe weather visit the NSW SES website. Safety alerts: Bridge Closed - Millewa River Road

Millewa River Road is CLOSED from the entrance at Millewa Road intersection to Clay Island Road intersection due to "Black & White" Bridge being unsafe for vehicles.

A detour is in place to direct traffic along Fisherman's Bend road to the east for access to the Murray Valley National Park and the Murray River.

Please follow signage as penalties do apply.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program from 14 February 2024 to 13 August 2024. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of feral foxes.

The program will take place in Oolambeyan National Park.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of foxes on neighbouring stock.

Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Moama 5 Mile - Area Closed due to works at boat ramp and adjacent tiers

The 5-Mile, while works take place during repair of the tiered areas caused by the recent floods, will be partially closed. These works will take place over an 8 week period.

An area at the top of the tiers at carpark level, including the lower Bbq area will have an exclusion fence set up to minimise damage to vehicles, boats and injury to visitors. This excluded area may temporarily involve the closure of access to the boat ramp, which will otherwise remain open.

The rest of the Visitor area will remain open. All the toilets, the carpark, access to the mountain bike trails and the Riverside walk to the Dungula lookout will still be available for public use.

The works are expected to begin on the 1st May and be finished by the end of June 2024.

Fire bans: Park Fire Ban - The Rock NR - Kengal Aboriginal Place

A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

There are Gas BBQs provided at the Rock NR.

Safety alerts: Blue-Green Algae Advice

There is currently an AMBER alert for potentially toxic blue-green algae on Yanga Lake. At amber alert levels blue-green algae may be multiplying in numbers. The water may have a green tinge and musty or organic odour. The water should be considered as unsuitable for potable use and alternative supplies or prior treatment of raw water for domestic purposes should be considered. The water may also be unsuitable for stock watering. The water remains suitable for recreational use, however algal concentrations can change rapidly. Water users should use caution and avoid water where signs of blue-green algae present. Safety alerts: Potential for Unexploded Ordinances in Livingstone National Park

There is a Substantial risk of unexploded ordinances (UXO) within Livingstone National Park.

There is signage erected at all entrances to the risk area.

If you are driving, bushwalking or mountain biking in the area, you must keep to the formed trails within the UXO risk area. No camping or digging of any kind is permitted within the risk area.
